We get lots of snow. A 5 inch snowfall can grind everything to almost a halt, and I think the reason is that the plowing crews drive around dumping salt on it, with their plows raised, so they turn the snow into thick slush. I had an SUV wipe out in front of me in that stuff once, and with my snow tires, I was able to dive onto the shoulder and maintain control. A two inch snowfall during rush hour is disastrous, too, as nobody can climb any hills when they salt the snowfall. The one mile long road in front of my work took 25 minutes to travel, because it culminates in a hill, and traffic was backed up. Here in Madison, they think salt cures all wintertime ills and have no clue about what's really happening. That's my rant for today.
