Is there a prize for this? Got you all beat.
Almost finished replacing the ball joints on my C900 in my brother's driveway and was interrupted by my little niece who wanted me to come in for lunch. I usually keep working until finished, but I was hungry and anxious to get her away from the car on jackstands, so I went with her. Came back later and finished up by installing the brakes, wheel; lowered the car and pulled forward. I had left the big nut off the upper joint and the whole axle assembly rotated forward, pulling the ball joint out of its place in the kingpin. Wheel now on a 45 degree angle inward, hours to disassemble and repair.
Also left the thrust washer off of the clutch shaft before putting the clutch nut on when rebuilding a 70's BSA B50 dirt bike. Wondered what that shiney big washer was that was leftover on the workbench; must be my brother's part. Clutch basket backed off past the nut on the shaft three miles into the woods, blew out the primary case on the bike and I had to push all 300+ lbs of it home. It took hours. But I wasn't as smart back then as when I was working on the SAAB years later.
And that's why successful DIY efforts are so rewarding....
