which is why I'm against government intervention in the form of monetary manipulations. Keynesian monetary manipulations inevitably cause one bubble after another . . . because fundamentally Keynesianism is a bad-debt rescue program through fiat money. The bad debts are usually in the previous bubble (where the TBTF banks mal-invesnted there money and got caught), and newly created money usually inflate the next bubble:

1998 FED rescued LTCM, the massive printing went into stock market, especially Nasdaq bubble, leading to the massive crash in 2000;

2000-2003 FED printed to rescue the stock market, the result was the even bigger housing bubble; that burst in 2007-08, and still ongoing;

which led to the sovereign debt bubble and commodity bubble that are still on-going.

Government interventions cause and exacerbate booms and busts. They are not the cure . . . just like government intervention to keep old obsolete jobs cause high unemployment.

Free market participants buying low and selling high actually help mitigate volatility through their very profit making actions: buying low and selling high is counter-cyclical!

Entreprenuers taking advantage of post-bubble price crashes to create new enterprises and new jobs are also counter-cyclical: they literally put a price floor under the input factors without sucking resources from the rest of the economy . . . that's what profit means in the free market: creating value out of something that previously was worth less.

It is the money-losing government interventions that actually exacerbate the boom and bust by buying high and selling low . . . transferring losses in the books of the fat-cats into losses on the backs of taxpayers.
