Eviseration of the Middle Class is a misnomer Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 5 Jul 2011 14:58:44 In Reply to: not just saab, stan, Mon, 4 Jul 2011 08:42:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The real problem was that "parts pickers" made $50K per year before OT! The untold part of this story is that these employees probably were paid over $100K per year with their finagled OT.
Finagled OT - work slow Monday thru Friday to be certain you collect Saturday and Sunday OT. I see this all the time in UAW Plants. Management is so stupid they request weekend OT on Tuesday mornings because their highly skilled work crews drug their feet on Monday.
Is it any wonder I deliberately purchase automobiles NOT made by the UAW?
I have empathy for the employees and family members affected, but every one of us who is being paid three time the going rate for our job classification should be anticipating this happening at any time. This is a problem not just for blue collar classifications, but also white collar jobs.
Bottom line, if you are being paid way too much for your job classification, plan for a future layoff; and improve your employable skills so you can land a job for which the proper pay scale is equivalent to what you are currently making.
