The AMA is not a union? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Wed, 6 Jul 2011 06:45:49 In Reply to: Unions preserve the American way, Used to be Chaz, Tue, 5 Jul 2011 23:12:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
i.e. the same group that lobbies to keep limited admissions to med schools and quotas on foreign-trained docs?
Not disagreeing with what unions have accomplished, but at some point they have gone too far. In Illinois, both the state and the City of Chicago are currently fighting with unions over many issues. Example: unions that set up trade shows at McCormick Place have negotiated impossibly high rates and are chasing millions of dollars of convention business to other lower-cost venues, thereby affecting thousands of other local jobs.
Having lived/worked in third-world countries, I see a similar effect in the US of the steepening "pyramid of wealth" that they are know for.
