What I found surprising is how GM failed to convince its Chinese partner (SAIC) to take Saab off its hand back in 2008-9, when it really needed money before the taxpayer bailout of GM. It seems to me, if GM or its partner had a Saab in China selling at prices comparable to BMW's, Audi's and Lexus's, it would help sell more Buicks not less! Just like having Porsche sharing some VW SUV platforms actually help sell more VW as a less expensive alternatives. In any case, the GM era is behind us. I'm thrilled at the new possibilities now that the legacy cost is cut off in the bankruptcy liquidation, creating a new set of parameters where a major well established car maker can step in.
