The C class is a compact car built to a price point, the E class is a full size car built to a standard. That's it in a nutshell.
I had a C class rental for three weeks and 2500 miles. It was a pleasant car for its size, but the only things about it that made you think it was a M-B were the three-pointed stars on the hood and steering wheel. The E and S class cars are immediately recognizable as special - above average, especially now that the V-6 and diesel engine problems have been sorted out.
Also, I never compared the quality or "feel" of a Hyundai to Mercedes, just pointed out that you were comparing a compact to a full size car.
If driving expensive cars for their badges makes you feel good, and you would "never ever consider a Hyundai, Kia or GM product", then stick with BMWs. I've owned a couple (318i, 535i)and they were great cars to drive, but had mediocre build quality and reliability.
If "bragging on their respective forums rather than feel the need to post here" is what you want to do, go for it.
But if you want to compare an entry-level compact to a well equipped full size car then, as you so succinctly put it - "Sell crazy someplace else!"
