I have not used the full sized ASUS laptops but I have played with the eepc's and know a few who own them and they have been flawless. Next time around I'd be looking at ASUS at the top of the heap. Their PC hardware is generally top notch, certainly my first choice supplier for motherboards. The build quality of their laptops (from what I have seen) is really good. If you look on NewEgg, the specific one you are looking at is not yet rated, but others are + that will give you an idea of the user experience with the brand. Typically they get 4 eggs with many reviews. Helps to sift through the reviews (particularly the more negative) to see what the pros + cons actually were + the knowledge level of the reviewer (sometimes there are "outliers" in that regard)

fwiw, if cost is a factor in the purchase, I've noticed laptops usually go on sale in late august/september (back to school) and in january (end of year clear out).
