You might want to check those specs again. The only Mac with an IPS display is the new MBP with Retina. If someone told you the 13" has an IPS display, they lied.

Retina: "this is the first MacBook that has an IPS (in-plane switching) screen."
Search around. You will find the only IPS panels Apple makes are for the Cinema displays and the Retina displays. All the other panels are bog-standard TN displays.
