I reread your post--not sure why I thought you were financing it. I guess my point is that there's been a real revolution in the car business in the last few years--they look better (even one time mundane models), they drive better, they make more horsepower and yet they get better mileage. I drove European cars exclusively since the '60's but they just no longer have anything you can't get elsewhere without all of the maintenance headaches. If nothing else before you pull the trigger on the Passat (you can't find one with lower miles?)just for fun go try a couple of new cars like a Buick Regal, a Ford Fushion, a Mazda 6 (as another poster suggested), or maybe a cross-over (great for hauling kids). You might be amazed by the fit/finish/materials, how they drive and what they cost. You might even look at a new Passat or Jetta. Anyway just my two cents.
