Granted, I will sometimes put them on and take them off a couple of times per year, based on the forecasts and how we are using the car. We don't get the same kind of winter that comes and stays around here like much of the country, but it's not uncommon to get a couple feet of snow and have it stick around for a couple of weeks.

Just up the hill, of course, they usually get winter, just not this year. I think my ski resort got only 100" of snow so far this year (20% of average).
