Let me add some more fuel to this fire. The potential for this business is large enough that many big software players will probably get involved, and there will most likely be competing systems from different suppliers. How well does your Windows PC run (without making life-critical decisions)? Do Microsoft, Apple and Linux system open files the same way and deal with the same data in synch with each other?

Thirty-plus years ago I used to develop software for cellular phone systems. The tasks seem fairly straightforward, and it's a much more controlled environment than what you face out on the road, yet decades of development later there are still system crashes. Not seeing this as happening any time soon, and not willing to trust my life to it.
