Is it just me or does this emissions cheating scandal seem like it could absolutely destroy VW financially?
The recall costs alone could be enormous and if 'fixed' cars don't pass subsequent emissions testing VW will probably be forced to buy them back. And then there are the class action suits by disgruntled consumers looking to recover damages for cars whose value is diminished because they were sold on fraudulent premises.
I could actually see bankruptycy in VW's future. Ganz schlecht for the taxpayers of Lower Saxony.
Oh, and there's no way this is the malevolent work of a rogue software engineer. This fraud had to have been approved by management way up the food chain.
