Yep, i read the article and it is a known issue, kinda rare, not that common esp when you Change the oil every 5K and or drive the car aggressively ! it can be easily fixed even w / the motor still in the car! (sounds like a fun, easy fix !) it wouldn't deter me a bit fr buying a Boxster and hasn't deterred hundreds of thousands of others fr buying one either! EVERY car has foibles, faults, flaws that need to be fixed (shall we mention the classic SAAB issues? I thought not! ) also, remember pelican are good folks fr what I hear but they are selling parts and do it to make $$$! a mechanic always gets, gives a skewed view of car reliability as he works on what is broken, fails or what messed up ! it's an inaccurate statistical sample ! the ones that are fine are the "silent majority " !!! Ps, when I got my 99'9-3 SE cv and the 02' 9-3 Viggen cv we dropped a K+ or so ea. to get the usual, expected aftermarket Nick Taliaferro, Genuine Saab braces, improvements! (and man do they work ! and well ! ) If your Saab is stock? you are missing out on a greatly enhanced driving experience! spend $ NOW! If you are an enthusiast, a REAL performance car driver you need to quickly address whatever issues EVERY car has, optimize them for the way you drive! hardly any car is perfect fr the factory! that's part of the fun of owning one ! to improve it! perfect it! All cars are a "work in progress "!
