Well, my daughter was able to have a friend's mechanic take it into the shop where he worked for an evaluation. The folks there confirmed that the oil cooler lines were leaking a lot - including onto the alternator. When my daughter had first stopped for gas, she had noticed that the alternator light had come on. When she started back up, it not not return.

They checked her battery and alternator - no problems.

The repair shop doesn't want to order in the parts or work on the car. I thinl it's because they noticed some other problems - which we know about - and didn't feel comfortable working on the Saab.

They also offered that they thought she could drive it, if she carried extra oil and power steering fluid (?) and kept checking on it while driving back from Zanesville OH - a bit under 400 miles. I REALLY don't know about that.

What do you think?
