Hmm. She has the AAA Premier membership. So I guess they would tow to Bernie's, but I think the Premier covers one 200-mile tow only. The difference might still be cheaper than having to hire a tow privately. Right now, we are not in a good place, Saab-wise. My '01 Aero is gone as a donation to the veterans, having rusted out past the point of being repairable. My wife's '06 wagon is in pretty good shape, just passed inspection, but maybe not a good idea for a fully-loaded road trip at this point. Would have to rent something anyhow, but due to the strangeness of Ohio state law, our daughter can't rent a car as she only has a debit card, no CC - no problem here in NY State. But Ohio won't let anyone else PAY for a rental except the in-person driver with a CC, so that entire option is out.

We have good car insurance, but I think if you use the towing coverage, they actually "ding" you as it counts as a "claim."

I don't have much confidence in that little repair shop, whatever. They were nice enough not to charge her for the "diagnosis." I really don't want her to drive it as-is, as you can probably tell. I have no idea where the oil cooler lines might be, but I do remember on (I think) our son's old 9000CD the indy shop kind of fabricated some kind of oil cooler "heatsink", Rube-Goldberg style.
