Welcome to the East Coast. If you are coming down from Montreal - you have the opportunity of staying inland through Vermont and New Hampshire or going to the coast through Maine. Both offer incredible hiking, antiquing, music, etc. My favorite is Mt. Desert Island in coastal Maine, which is home to Acadia National Park - which combines extraordinary hiking, ocean kayaking, antique car museum, cool driving opportunities, formal gardens designed by Olmstead, wooden boats.. - all with gorgeous mountain/ocean views and incredible dining (Asticou Inn). I live on Cape Cod, which is also beautiful and filled with great inns, ocean, hiking, mountain biking, etc.
Alternatively, going through Vermont/NH gives you the Green and White Mountains (National Forests) with some of the best hiking you can find...
If you come through the Boston area on sundays, the Museum of Transportation in Brookline (birthplace of JFK) hosts a car marque day (each week a different brand) that includes picnics, concours, etc. Lot's of Fun!
