It takes a lot to deploy a baby in the field

Truly, the amount of stuff a baby can use can be staggering when traveling from home. Amen to choosing the maximum cargo room.
My old Subaru wagon had the tether where you describe but I didn't think it took up too much of the cargo room, but that may be because I had to route the tether over the dog guard. I'm a big fan of the dog guards (and have the Saab one in my wagon) since they let you stuff the trunk to the roof and there are no worries about cargo becoming projectiles in an accident.
Going on vacation with 2 kids under 4 fills the rear of our minivan. I am looking forward to traveling lighter when they're older!
