I pulled the drive train of a 01 Jetta a year ago. It was a project I did for a friend I didn't have time to do. Took me a year to fix and put things back together. If you are a DIYer stay away. The engine is cramped in a small compartment. The wiring is all over the place. 60k miles change interval for the timing belt on an interference engine. The performance and fuel economy are not bad. But I'd want something more tinkerer friendly.
