You're right Snowmobile. You do get used to it like in any car. But before you do it's sort of like trying to make a move in too high a gear in a turbo car. Waiting for spool up when you should have downshifted. That kind of transmission programming, I guess, was sort of a rushed and inexpensive bandaid for the manufacturers to get better mileage until the current 8 and 9 speed transmissions came out. Funny. Driving home from the bus yesterday I enter the Garden State Parkway in the left lane and have to point and squirt my way through traffic to get quickly all the way over for my exit. The Durango downshifted perfectly everytime. I was paying attention to it because of this thread. Do transmissions really adapt to driving styles as they say? Or do I just know how to drive it now. Or a combo of both?
