there's leasing, which, combined with "free service for the life of the lease" deals, means there is absolutely no reason to ever think about service. The service reminder comes up on the dash. You get a free oil change. Warranty work is free.
Millions of people probably don't even know how to open the hood.
Sometimes I'd like a couple dozen pre-2000 cars to get me through the next 20 years or so. Cars you can buy cheap, hot rod when desired, fix fairly easily, and drive into the ground.
