First of all, my wife and I love this car!!!! We just bought it with 84000 miles, and looks and runs like new!
But after driving less than 3000 miles I've added four quarts of oil and topped off the coolant.
Our local SAAB dealership spent 3 hrs, (that's $360 to you and me)and couldn't tell me where the oil for sure was going. They said Tech support recommended replacing the piston rings!!??!?!? Seems extremely drastic when they don't even know if that will fix it!
Since then, I've talked to two reputable Indy's. One said this "new motor" is only now coming out of warranty, and they haven't had the opportunity to work on them much. The other indy said there are only two fixes for this problem, and they both require the engine to be over hauled!!!!
Holy crap! I've been looking throught these threads for days, and am getting more fustrated. It sounds like earlier motors that had oil issues had a pcv fix. What about my motor? I don't even know what to call it! One indy said it is a Saturn motor, the other said it was something different. I thought I had gotten a good deal on the car for $10,500. Did I buy an expensive lemon or does someone out there know what can be done???
