I have owned many saabs, almost all with manual transmissions. I have owned a v6 9-5 wagon with an auto and an aero 9-5 (4 cyl. turbo) with a five speed manual. Both are great cars, but I prefer the stick. We live in the snow belt and I appreciate the greater control that I get with the manual in such conditions. It also gets better fuel economy and is quicker in most situations. That said, my wife, who knows how to drive a manual, greatly prefers the automatic. So, if you are sharing the car with a woman, or must talk on you cellphone and sip a latte while driving, go with the automatic. Either way, it is a great car with plenty of power and good fuel economy.
