One of our kids has a 2004 9-5 wagon with maybe 150K on the odo. Over the last few years we've put a lot of money into keeping the car on the road. We're now looking at another 3K to get it back in shape: rear brakes (all), rear brake lines (need to drop tank), valve cover gasket, etc. The good: fairly new tires, head gasket, brake booster, ignition cassette, front brakes, blower motor, exhaust parts.

Our current tech shop says the body rust not that bad underneath. But even with throwing another $3K at it, might have some other as yet undiscovered oil leaks somewhere after obvious one is fixed. Other stuff: AC inop, not diagnosed, heat not the best, etc.

I am not any kind of wrench turner. I had to give up my own 2001 9-5 Aero last summer due to structural rust - ended up just donating it to a veterans group.

After looking at some of the classifieds here, it's obvious to me that this 9-5 isn't worth much at this point. But it seems a little crazy to just junk it - it's a running Saab, even if barely just.
Our offspring doesn't want to deal with it anymore as it is beginning to seem like a money pit.

What would you do with it at this point? The kid has her eye on a CPO Subaru - not exactly cheap, - especially at this point with the market running for its life from tariffs.

TIA for any suggestions - even the obvious ones.
