I need a clarification again Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Fri, 28 Feb 2014 06:47:53 In Reply to: No Power at Yellow Cable with ignition turned on, 900 Commem, Thu, 27 Feb 2014 17:10:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Do you mean, no power at yellow wire with ignition on (and you standing in front of the car looking at it), or do you mean that you get nothing when you turn the key all the way to the right as if trying to start. The yellow wire simply engages the starter solenoid.
I think if you put the key in the on position, and bump the starter (via a jump wire as advertised in the last post), the car should actually start up. That would isolate the problem entirely to the yellow wire alone. I'm not great with electrical issues, but that seems intuitive. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong on that.
It sounds like you've now isolated the problem to the wiring, but I'd go ahead and do the starter test; it's going to take 5 minutes. Next stop is the fuse box, but I'm going to have to have access to my electrical manual to help further.
What year is your car again? Maybe I can pdf you a few pages (or the whole manual). I may have the electrical manual as pdf here in the office ( I got a whole collection of manuals on CD off FleaBay a while back. Send me an email through Saabnet and I'll shoot you what I've got.
I am guessing there is little or no difference in the basic wiring between the years. And I have to admit, my automotive skills in electrical issues are my weakest area, but I'll do what I can to help.
