Yes, re: Ray's post, double check the battery voltage.
But to my point, since we are not there, we've got to be precise in the wording. So, there are actually 4 positions on the ignition switch: off, on (instruments/radio only), run (normal running position), and start (all the way to the right, spring-loaded/bounces back to run when you release it).
The yellow wire to the solenoid is only energized in the start position, when you are "cranking" it. That is what we are looking for in the test circuit - to see that the solenoid is energized by the yellow when you crank the key all the way to the right.
Give that a whirl.
