Are you sure the battery had a good charge and is in good enough shape to hold a charge?
Most of what you have posted has all the symptoms of a weak or near-dead battery. Give yourself (and us) some reassurance about its condition before chasing unlikely theorems. Your problem could be pretty simple.
Back to your clutch line troubles: I wasn't recommending that you use a tap because a tap can chew up and ruin the whole area, when, after a simple misthreading, all that's often needed is a careful reinserting the flare nut holding it correctly square to the hole as you gently try to get it to thread. Best to do this with the bleeder screw, with the slave removed and on a bench. Once thread is found again and screw is run in and out over it a few times, carefully thread flare on line into place before putting the slave back into the car.
