Or cavitation bubbles from people changing the fittings / lines and bends that make lots of air in the system. On our CIS equipped racecar, we have a pump in the tank to provide positive pressure the next pump that pushes the fuel forward. Then, there is a modulation valve that keeps the pressure high at the mechanical injector, whilst returning the extra fuel back to the tank.
Because the LH2.X injectors don't need the same massive pressure as the CIS, keeping the fuel circulating is a great idea for the bubbles, heat, and also and water contamination.....and water is going to be in the bottom of the tank so having the ejector there stirs up the pot so to speak, so you can expel any water contaminated fuel, further diluting the fluid to deliver to the fuel rail. I've had cars that I had to hotwire the fuel pump to get it to circulate funky gasoline long enough to completely dilute the water in the fuel just to get it to run. Then, once running, we bleed off the fuel to a tank outside the car.
