Hello everyone! I've posted on this board and the "performance board asking Q's. Some have responed and helped me figure things out alot, thank you. So this '94 9000 Aero... It has 176K miles on it. Good used engine just dropped in it. The mechanic installed the larger Tdo4 mitsubishi Turbo in it (from a 5-speed Aero) exchanging out the smaller T-25 those ATX equipped Aeros had. I'm going to ask him to also exchange out the ECU from the stock one to the one that normally comes off a 5-speed "94-'98 Aero model. Many have said this will allow the larger Tdo4 turbo to do its job better and get everything out of it that normal 5-speed Aeros have. I don't want to break the transmission, so I'll stop there in terms of "power upgrades".
My question is this: will exchanging those ECU's screw anything up with the car (like it won't be compatible and the car will get "confused"), and most importantly, do I have to exchange any other parts to make the Tdo4 turbo and 5-speed ECU work together properly? For instance, do I need a different blow-off valve? Or are the automatic Aeros the same as the 5-speed counterparts in every way except just that the turbo and ECU's are different??? Now is the time for me to tell my mechanic what I want transferred over to this '94 Automatic Aero I'm considering buying! A list would be great. But if it's simply a matter of exchanging turbos and ECU's that would be simple and good. I posted before that this car has 176K miles and don't know if it's the original trans. And from my reading, those trans can last a short time - a long time, based on LUCK. Is there any test to see how good a trans it is and how much life to expect to get out of it?
Thank you all again for your help in assessing my purchasing pros and cons for this particular car!
