well, it is hard to say, my theory is if you keep the fluids changed and do not tromp on it at every light, you will be fine, it was once told to me that once the car is moving do what ever you want, but this is not a red light race car. I do believe that with whatever ECU you end up with you will need to cut the #14 wire or it will reduce torque. my 94 Aero Auto runs very nice with this wire cut, and personally not sure I would swap ECU's. you will add HP with the larger turbo, and you might want exhaust down the road, changing the ECU is a 5 minute job and can be done at any time, and can even be done by any common idiot. so maybe drive the car first and see how you like it, then cut the wire, drive again. it sounds to me that you are real concerend about the trans. so I would take this route. I don't beleive you will get the benifit of the new ECU unless the wire is cut so either way you will need to cut the harness. I was going to add a switch to mine but instead, I just got a RCA plug, and 6 inches of wire, I added it to the harness by the fuse box under the hood, if I want the car back to stock i just plug in the RCA plug to connect the wire back up. Believe me you will not be switching it back and forth. I have yet to put it back in the last year. also $4k seems a bit high for a 94 Auto with 176k, mine has 127k on it, the tranny was replaced at 90k and I will probably be looking for $4500 for it, and some guys on this board thought I was real high. I have a love hate relation ship with my Aero I Hate Black, but I love the Aero, i just can't take black any longer, But I am in NE ohio and the values seem to be pretty low on them here now.
