I think the 94-95 is different than the 96 on up - for one part in regards to emissions, and the package isn't quite the same physically.
I recently bought a 97 Aero that had an 'older model aero' ecu in it. The car had an elcd purge valve code due to the mismatched ecu, and it wouldn't boost like it was supposed to. Ran just fine though.
I swapped in the orignal ecu (which the PO retained), and a red DI, and its been running fine (except when it blew off the IAC hose - now that'll get you a wild idle). Check engine light went away too, and never came back.
Anyway... the 'old' ecu and the 97 Aero ecu have different different packaging, and the connector ends up such that you can't get the ears into the bracket.
The 'old' ecu doesn't have a part number on it (it actually has a question mark written on it in marker).
