Right, I agree with you on your points about how it is necessary to wait for the synchros on any car (and I certainly wasn't suggesting to just "slam it in")--in different variations depending on the different car of course. And I certainly did in my C900...and, I wasn't suggesting that you weren't shifting properly on your C900 so I'm not surprised it is lasting to 220K and longer...quite the opposite--if you wait a long time between shifts, the tranny will last a while, but I was just surprised that they suggested to wait until the clutch is fully up again until you give it gas. My stick driving technique has always been to give gas before the clutch is all the way up...and of course more, once the clutch is all the way up.
I agree that it is a good idea for the clutch to be the weak link...but I don't think they were saying to match revs though:
"Let the clutch out without hardly any gas at all until you know it is hooked up, then mash the gas."
and "The idea is to unload the drive train just before you de-clutch, then load it back up when the clutch is hooked up again."
