The EV-1 being referred to here is not Saab's 1985 concept car. They're referring to the 1990's GM electric car leased through Saturn dealerships in California but later discontinued.
As far as the Saab concept car, the most impressive thing about it to me today was the solar panels on the roof to drive a recirculating fan inside the car while it's parked. Sweet!
The Saab EV-1 was never intended to be anything more than a proof-of-concept model to showcase new technologies. There was never any intention to put it into production.
