This person is pretty much right on all accounts. Just be sure to go out there and ride a bunch of bikes too. It's difficult to generalize though, especially now that Shimano is going to 10 rear cogs instead of 9. They changed the spacing for their 10 speed cogs to match that of the Campy 9 spd which means that alignment could be more difficult with 10 spd Shimano than the 9 spd. I'm really generalizing here so just get out there and try some stuff out.
If you're in MA, Wheelworks is a good place to get something you won't regret. If Southerin NH, Goodale's or Nault' are both good places to try. I've bought bikes from all of these places with good luck although Naults tried to put me in a bike that was too big once.
