I saw stuff about that, maybe on the CNN site. forget now, I've looked a so much. The other disasters were a huge earthquake in California, this type of thing in New Orleans, and chemical, biological or nuke attack on one of the big cities, like NY, LA, etc.
What's amazing is that there is no apparent mobilization strategy to do something. No one expects all relief to arrive instantly or all at once. But 5 days out is obscene. Sure we had ships in the area at Banda Aceh last December, but we have big cities with food, water and medical supplies within 300-500 miles of the area that were NOT affected by the storm (Houston, Dallas, Little Rock, Atlanta, Tallahassee, San Antonio, etc). And the military bases across the south have helos to fly the stuff in. Big cargo helos go 150 to 230 mph.
This is the most inept governmental performance imaginable. And all Bush could say today was the performance was unacceptable. Hello?? Who's in charge here?
