Now you are narrowing your focus. Because of the sizes you mention and the fact you want casements, stay with wood windows, clad on the exterior with vinyl or aluminum, doesn't matter as long as it's a reliable company. If your house was built in 1977 the sizes are most likely standard with Andersen or Pella, Marvin, Eagle, Weathershield, etc. I'm not familiar with the Sun product your sales guy mentioned.
Anderson is really not expensive at all when you consider the size (height) of the unit you need and the fact it will drop right in the old opening and make your job simple. You should expect to pay around $517. for a 48x60 twin casement. Anderson has a pre paint option on the interior that's about $10. per window and it saves you tons of work, IF you want white on the inside. Anderson comes standard with Low e Argon.
Pella has a dazzling array of choices in glazing.
Be careful when thinking Pella. It's like sayiing Saab. There are many levels of Pella quality. Some of the big box stores sell the contractor's series which is actually the thinned down version. Go to a Pella distributor to get all the facts.
Marvin, Weathershield, Eagle and others are big names that may be strong in your area.
Just for fun, do the math and compare the sales guy's number to what you can do it for yourself. BTW... know your jamb size when you order, wall thickness + exterior sheathing + drywall + any other surfaces. It will save you lots of time when trimming the interior.
