Replaced all of the old '50s aluminum sliders a few years ago with custom retrofit Marvins. More than half our windows are 8' wide picture windows that have the outboard quarters that can open and the middle 4' fixed, so it was a few more bucks than some of the prices I have seen mentioned here (about a grand a window for the big guys). No regrets, though. Quiet, maintenance free and much better insulating.
