My initial thought is that you are more likely to stick to your workouts over the long haul, and do more of them, if you tone them down a bit. I run every day, and even on my 'hard' days, I don't run to complete exhaustion. If your goal is to lose weight, yeah, probably slow it down, run a few more miles a week, keep up with the weights, and skip the desserts.
