Recently purchased a Minolta Maxxum 70, which is amazing for the price. For $120 I got incredibly fast and accurate autofocus, great 14-segment auto exposure (or spot, or center-weighted) and DOF preview button. Not to mention all the custom functions, separate exposure lock button, HSS and wireless flash capability. I am thrilled with features and quality of this camera. I still have my Maxxum 450si but it is much inferior in all respects.
I think DSLRs are still way too expensive for what they are. No good reason to spend all that money... I have a nice small digital P&S camera that I use for snapshots. However, when quality counts I always pull out my film SLR.
