is that over a certain minimum (2-3GB) it's actually much better at using RAM than XP. When you install more RAM it caches more data from the harddrive, thus speeding up general performance. This is the reason why it uses such a large percentage of RAM. It doesn't mean it's a "memory hog" - just that it uses it differently than XP does.
As long as you don't have too little RAM (less than 2 GB, better with 3+ GB) it's actually faster than XP!
The only reason I haven't changed to Vista yet, is that I need more RAM and my computers use DDR I which I don't want to waste money on, since DDR II is needed with all current motherboards and processors.
Bottomline is that Vista *is better* than XP, as long as you don't try to use it with computers that have less than 2-3 GB RAM with 4GB being optimal.
