I don't know if dealers have to eat the repeat costs within 30 days like I have heard before, but I have had dealers refuse to fix a known issue within a short time. Perhaps this was the reason.

I think it is GM's responsibility as the manufacturer to police the dealers from a warranty point of view. Yes, it is a lot of work, but it is part of the reason their market share has slipped. GM has more liability for the warranty than the dealer. GM actions are worse than not policing. They don't correct known wrongs and they create an economic disincentive to the dealer fixing the car correctly the first time every time. It is one thing to built junk and another thing not to support it and yet another thing to lie about the junk being junk.
