You might have gotten lucky with a good car, dealer, etc. You yourself have been denied valid overage. Search the web a bit and you will read plenty of posts of GM and its dealers not honoring the warranty. Chrysler was sued in the 90s over this issue but it got tossed on a technicality. GM ultimately settles many defect lawsuits because it knows it is wrong and has a decent chance of losing.
The best warranty never needs to be used. If it needs to be used the implication is some part was junk, especially when you have the same part changed multiple times.
When customer service, reps, engineers, and executives don't support the product or the warranty you have a junk company which is what GM is as reflected by its stock price.
You come across as somewhat blindsided by your appreciation for Saab. Just because you had your experience does not invalidate anyone elses. I'm not saying that Saab has never honored the warranty. But even one invalid denial would be fraud. I've got a long and repeated list and it has nothing to do with me giving anyone a hard time so I'm not sure where you go that impression. I go in, get the service, and leave. One particular dealer with not that a great a reputation was annoyed that they couldn't bill Saab and I didn't want to pay for things to be done that should and have mostly since been covered. If the dealer did the work under warranty, they could have billed close to two grand. Instead, another dealer got the work.
Saab sales are not abysmal because they build great cars. The greater public has spoken over the years because of the questionable build quality. Some attributes can still be great but a car is only as good as its weakest link. I guess most of the world isn't chiming in because they were smart enough to avoid Saab and the nearly two days per month over four years my car has been at the dealers which isn't even including scheduled service. That sounds pretty junky to me.
