I never fished before.. and a question for Dean Posted by adl6009 [Email] (#2526) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adl6009) on Wed, 25 Feb 2009 13:37:40 In Reply to: Home theater wiring, adl6009 [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 25 Feb 2009 07:25:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Wire through a wall that is. My real concern is needing a new connector in the future. When they upgrade the hdmi standard they will probably require a new cable or that kind of thing. Comcast and panasonic are the first to be supporting 'Tru2Way' that will eliminate the need for a cable box, see link. So I suppose the thing to do is wire for everything, at a minimum- component, hdmi, and 3 audio channels (l,r,center) and then coax also. I use cablevision now, but verizon is now hooking up my neighborhood for fios so that becomes an option now for us. (With my luck, the dumpster out front will be in verizons way and they will come back in a few months to hook up my telephone pole :-)
I am concerned about heat in the cabinet as Dean mentioned. I am using kitchen cabinets to house the equipment, which is normally not a vented space.
I am curious about this part of Deans message
"Have you looked at how the crossover networks are constructed? Consider upgrading electrolytic caps to film caps and iron core inductors to air core."
I really don't know what this is. But I'll look into it.
Thanks.
