First of all, I have to say that all of my 3 C900's were second-hand.
But I do know that all those HP, Canon, Lexmark, Xerox, Epson and other printer vendors do make money NOT on printers themselves, but mostly on the parts (toner/ink, cartridges, paper, parts like drums, rollers and such). The same (or even more over) is also true for Gillette, Bic and other vendors on shaving things market - they make nothing when selling you the initial shaving set, but do earn when you come e.g. for new razor-set.
Yep, if I bought my C900 new, then I would share more $$$ with Saab. But what I'd like to say here is that even if one buys second-hand Saab, but is using original parts and does all the maintenance in Saab dealership (even not official - all those EPC, Tech2, WIS and other dealer-related stuff costs money!) - he is still paying Saab all those money. Just compare the price tags on ball joints: Scantech, TRW and Saab. Keep in mind that it's the same TRW ball joint that you get in package with Saab logo (true for C900, not sure on other models).
Zig
P.S.
6AM here, probably it's not the best time for a serious post.
