This could be a doozy of a thread I bet...

so SU is reporting that "NEVS" is the winner. I know SU has made some big time errors in their predictions, but... Any thoughts here?

I know there are plenty of Volt haters here + I can see why. I'm no fan of the Prius either (it's an econobox), though they seem to be selling well in my neck of the woods...

That said, I look at this fairly positively. It sounds like a re-rebirthed saab will be innovation oriented + most likely will start with selling something like the 9-3 e-xwd many of us were hoping for. Ie a real car that happens to be a hybrid... the anti-prius! Remember, Saab had a hybrid vert almost a decade ago (rumoured to be plugin with a last minute glued on outlet cover courtesy GM)... they have done some test electric cars, and they have also worked with volvo on technologies associated with the Volvo Recharge.

Obviously the business side is currently a mess - dealers failing, parts has been dodgy (though that could improve)... Will be interesting to see if they partner with someone to retrench the brand in various markets after a number of years hiatus... that said, now they really are a startup + can really operate like one! That should lead to greater success imho.

I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll see the next "99 turbo" moment...
