How many Priuses are 20+ years old with 300,000 miles? I buy cars when they are 15-25 years old (at least) and have hundreds of thousands of miles on them already. I don't think we have much real-word data on hybrids or electrics that fall into that category. However, experience with lithium-based battery technology in other devices suggests replacement will be needed after a lot of time and usage.
With a well-designed and maintained conventional drivetrain I can buy a car for $1000 to $1500 that has hundreds of thousands of miles on it and reasonably expect to get years more use without major repairs. (Both my Saabs fit into this category.) It is very unlikely that an electric or hybrid will reach that point without needing a very expensive battery replacement that will cost much more than the car is otherwise worth.
