I know the transmission isn't changing gears, but the sliding pulleys must be moving in discreet steps rather than a single continuous movement based on vehicle feel. Especially evident as the center console shift lever has an offset Manu-Matic gate with steering wheel paddles.

Yes, the loss of a traditional shift feel was one of my concerns prior to test driving the Subaru.
