Sure thing, I can share what I know about the newer SPA platform (XC60, XC90, S60, S90, V70) Volvo's, especially as compared to the P2 and P3 ones before. The Chinese owners have left the design and related in Sweden, and carried back knowledge to help their other Chinese brands. From what I've seen the quality (fit/finish) of the Volvo's made in China rivals the ones made in their EU and USA factories.

I do believe the current Volvo's channel quite a bit of what Saab might be if still around. The pro's of the current SPA platform: beautiful high quality interior - arguably one of the best at this price point, great seats, decent handling/feel, and safety still scores well in real world.

The cons: hard ride, make sure you're okay w/this (especially on larger wheels), and I believe they got ahead of their skis with new tech/launches. The 2015/2016 Drive-e engines have problems with oil rings and consumption, supercharger gaskets (new version okay), control arm bushing (wheel vibration, newer ones seem better), start/stop issues (second battery/starter - that battery can cause many odd electrical issues), and the complexities of Google/Android auto and related tech issues. Software in general has been a challenge recently the 2022 switch to mild hybrid has ushered in a raft of first year growing pains. In general, increasing complexity of these has made them 'nice' but added significant complexity and related failures.

In summary, the days of the simplistic last forever redblock or whiteblock Volvo have gone away I believe. The new ones are nice, but in the 'complicated' European category and are best owned by someone near a service center or mechanically able themselves. I do hope Volvo can continue to improve on this as I do have a soft spot for Swedish cars and would like to see them make it long term. I do have my mother in a 2020 XC70 which she likes, but it's been nowhere as reliable as her 2016 XC70 which was lost in a nasty accident....
