You sure you don't hang out on Jeep sites too? Those guys don't get it either. They have the exact vehicle as I do, get 12 mpg and just can't understand how anyone could get better. They think the "Eco" feature is some magic wand that gives better mileage driving the old same way. And then they can't understand why it doesn't work. The gauge (or light) is simply a prompt. In essence it measures how much you're opening the throttle in a given situation. The less you open the throttle, the better MPG you get, period. Forget the numbers on the gauge, forget any instant MPG readings. Simply keep the gauge as close to the side where the highest numbers are, as much as possible. Then figure the actual MPG when you fill the tank.
