Our 2012 Forester's noise level reminded of 1980's cars with no sound deadening. Especially if you spend allot of time at highway speeds. More than an hour or so I finish up with ringing ears. And will wear ear plugs next to time.
The car was missing sound deadening today for fuel economy. Lower content, lowers costs at the consumer's expense. Thinner windshield glass tends to crack as my girlfriend cracked one during lease with Legacy and Forester. Thinner wiring for the electrical system would bog the windows as more up buttons were pushed while going up. Blown fuses were not uncommon. While looking for the fusboxes I notices how much of the carpet is missing where your eyes don't normally see. The metal frame for the seating is the thinnest stampings I've ever seen in a modern day car.
